World Cup fantasy quarter final wildcard team: the best MD5 FIFA fantasy team

FIFA fantasy matchday five team

The quarter finals of the World Cup is about to start and so we’ve decided to put together a couple of md5 FIFA fantasy teams, that would serve as inspiration for fantasy managers out there this matchday.

In the various matchday five teams we’d be creating this week, we’d be trying to use different strategies. In one of our teams, we’d be going big at the back, in another, we’d be investing in midfielders and lastly, we’d go all in on forwards.

So sit back and enjoy, we hope this article helps you this matchday.

Some important things to keep in mind as you wildcard in matchday five

As you create your quarter final wildcard team, here are couple of things you should keep in mind:

  • You want to target players that are starters and not rotation risk
  • You want to target players that play on different days, it won’t be the best of ideas to target players that play in just one day
  • When making transfers and buying players, it’s really important for you to select players from teams that you think would go far in the tournament.
  • Another thing worth keeping in mind, is when selecting your players, you want to start players that play early first and then bench the players that play later.

  • Another really important thing is that you should always be on guard and be ready to make substitutions if your first team players don’t perform well.

The best teams to target for your MD5 wildcard

Here are some of the best teams you can target as you play your matchday five wildcard:

  1. France
  2. Argentina
  3. England
  4. Portugal
  5. Brazil
  6. Netherlands
  7. Morocco
  8. Croatia

Well, we think that when creating your wildcard team this matchday, it is important for you to try and target players from all the teams remaining in the competition. It’s important to target the most in-form players from each country.

In order to help you identify these players, we’ve put together another article that we think would be useful to Fantasy managers this matchday, feel free to check it out: FIFA World Cup fantasy MD5 tips: the best player picks, 12th man, captain picks.

1. Quarter final world cup fantasy wildcard team: Going big at the back

Quarter final world cup fantasy wildcard team: Going big at the back

This is our first wildcard team. In this this matchday five wildcard draft, we’ve gone big at the back. We’ve selected top defenders from some of the bigger Countries.

We have Dumfries, Hakimi, Marquinhos and Luke Shaw as our starting defenders. Since it is the quarter finals, clean sheets might be hard to come by, so we’ve decided to get in defenders that are full-backs.

Doing this means that even if clean sheet points are wiped out, we can still get some points if these full-backs attack and get a goal or assist.

When selecting defenders for your matchday five team, it would be a really good practice to select defenders that play as full-backs in real life.

We’ve also got a decent midfield and attack in this team. However, what could be a problem is the fact that we don’t have Mbappe. This is the price we have to pay for going all in and getting expensive defenders that are full-backs.

If you want to have Mbappe in this team, you’d have to make some sacrifices. Either you take out Ziyech and Allison for cheaper fantasy assets and then upgrade one of Giroud or Richarlison to Mbappe.

2. Quarter final world cup fantasy wildcard team: Investing in midfielders

Quarter final world cup fantasy wildcard team: Investing in midfielders

This is our second team, and in this one we’ve decided to invest in midfielders. In order to this, we have had to let go of a couple of expensive defenders and forwards.

So, in this team we have three solid defenders who play for top Countries and then we’ve got budget defenders that are starters for their country. We’ve also had to let go of Alisson as he is too expensive.

Doing this now allows us to get in a couple of solid midfielders that could deliver FIFA fantasy points. In midfield we’ve got Foden, Fernandes, Saka, Paqueta and Bellingham.

This is a really good midfield, as majority of the midfielders being selected have performed well in previous games and are also on form.

There aren’t so many midfielders to pick from, and that’s why we’re recommending mostly English players, as their midfielders seem to be doing pretty well in the tournament.

You can check out our: FIFA World Cup fantasy MD5 tips: the best player picks, 12th man, captain picks, in the article, you’d see more fantasy options and players you can target from each team.

Up top we’ve got Mbappe, Gakpo and Alvarez; we’ve done this just to mix it up and allow you know the various options and forward pairs you can go with this gameweek.

We’ve also got 1million in the bank, we’d let you decide how you want to use it.

3. Quarter final world cup fantasy wildcard team: Going all in on forwards

Quarter final world cup fantasy wildcard team: Going all in on forwards

This is our final wildcard team for matchday five. In this one, we’ve tried to go all in and select some of the top forwards. It’s a pretty decent team, it has a solid defense, midfield and attack and it could absolutely work this matchday.

In terms of balance however, we don’t think this is the best team. You can clearly see that, when you look at the bench. We know how important it is to have a good bench in this World Cup fantasy game, a good bench could help you when your first team players don’t perform.

This means that when you’re selecting your team, you want to keep your bench in mind. Something that could help this team, would be to reduce Neymar to a Giroud, Richarlison or Alvarez and then take the extra funds and upgrade the players that are on the bench.

With the extra funds, you can increase the 4million midfielder on the bench to a Paqueta or Ziyech. Other than the bench, it is a pretty solid team.

We hope these wildcard teams, can serve as inspiration and as a guide for fantasy managers out there.

They might not be the perfect teams, but we’re convinced that you can create a team better than the ones we’ve created, if you can take bits from each draft and put it into one.
