We’re back once again with our weekly captain picks article. In this article, we’d be taking a look at some of the best GW11 captains, we’d be looking at whom the experts are recommending and lastly, we’d be picking our own GW11 captain.
How did our GW10 captain picks perform
Before we get right into our GW11 captain picks, we’d like to share with those who missed our GW10 captain picks article, how our various picks perfomed.
5. Wilfried Zaha
Wilfried Zaha was the fifth player on our GW10 list of captains and he did quite alright – he picked up 5 points after getting an assist in Palace’s win against Leeds United.
4. Reece James
James was the fourth player on our list and it was a rather disappointing one, as the Chelsea full-back was benched, then he came off the bench and gave just one point.
3. James Maddison
Maddison was another disappointing pick. The Leicester City man gave just the one point last gameweek, as Leicester suffered a defeat in the hands of Bournemouth.
2. Jarrod Bowen
Bowen was the second player on our list and he did quite well. The West Ham man got himself a goal and seven points, which was quite decent.
1. Kevin De Brunye
Brunye was the player we thought could rival Erling Haaland last week and he did a decent job – De Brunye got himself an assist and six points, which was similar to Haaland’s point return last week.
GW11 captain picks: what are the expert saying
There are a couple of different opinions this week, with a decent amount of experts suggesting that the Spurs duo, Kane and Son and even Gabriel Jesus could out-score Erling Haaland this gameweek.
Even the fantasyfootballfix AI, has predicted that Jesus and Kane would get more points than Erling Haaland in GW11. One of the reasons for this, is because of the fixtures of the three FPL assets.
Leeds and Everton are considered to be easier games compared to Liverpool, the team Haaland plays against this weekend.
fantasyfootballreports captaincy index, also has Son and Kane above Haaland this gameweek, which again is really surprising when you take Haaland’s form and goal-scoring record into account.
The best GW11 captain
Regardless of his fixture this gameweek, Erling Haaland is still the best GW11 captain. A lot of FPL managers are backing the Man City forward this gameweek.
Haaland was rested in the UCL this week, which means he is going to be coming into the Liverpool game fresh and rested.
He also is playing against one of the worst defenses in the league and the last time he played one of the worst defenses(Nott’m Forest) he bagged a hattrick.
Liverpool would also be lacking key members of their defensive unit, as Arnold and Matip look to have picked up injuries. There really is not enough reason to go against Haaland this gameweek – why not wait till GW12 when he blanks.
Here are some reactions from FPL managers on reddit
Some more GW11 captain picks
If you’re getting bored of always captaining Erling Haaland and want to make things a little more interesting, then here are some nice differential captain picks.
- Harry Kane
- Gabby Jesus
- Phil Foden
- Son
- Mo Salah
1. Kane
The player that we think would be a good Haaland alternative is Harry Kane. Kane has been sensational so far this season and he has been delivering points.
This week, he plays against one of his favorite opponents in Everton and this could be a good time to go for a Kane captaincy. 13 goals in 14 games against Everton, a goal in his last four PL starts, Kane really could rival Haaland this gameweek.

2. Gabby Jesus
Jesus is another player that has been in great form this season and would be another nice Haaland alternative, for those looking to go down the differential captain route.
Jesus has shown us that he could be a handful for any defense and you wouldn’t put it past him to get a couple past the Leeds defense.
We know he has the quality to get double-digit returns and it also does feel like he’s due one. Maybe it comes this gameweek against Leeds United.

3. Phil Foden
Foden is another player that could be up there with Haaland in terms of GW11 captains. They both play against the same team that has defensive issues, they both have an eye for goal and they are both in really good form.
If you’re looking to target this Liverpool game and don’t want to go for Haaland, then Foden is another really good alternative.

4. Son
Son, is really good alternative and that’s because of his fixture this gameweek. Son we know hasn’t been in the best of forms, but we all know what he’s capable of.
The AI and stats also seem to favor him this gameweek, so if you want to go down that route then sure go for it. We do believe that the three players listed above him, are much better Haaland alternatives.

5. Mo Salah
Mo Salah is another one that could potentially outscore Haaland this gameweek. We all know how dangerous Salah is when he’s on form and maybe he has found his form after his hattrick against Rangers in the UCL on Wednesday.
The issue though with Salah, is that he seems to playing further away from the goal(he seems to be too wide) and we think that’s what is affecting his goal-scoring this season.
If Klopp does change or tweak his style to suit Salah this gameweek, then he might just get himself a couple of goals against Man City.

Remember Salah is fixture-proof – he can score against anyone.
