After going almost ten gameweeks without bothering to change our captains, GW12 is here and it offers a different proposition – Haaland blanks which makes captaincy wide open and interesting.
There are several good options to pick from this gameweek we have the likes of: Harry Kane, Mo Salah and Trossard.
In this article, we’d be looking at some of the best captain picks suggested by experts, after which we would then decide on whom the best GW12 captain is.
How our GW11 captains performed
5. Mo Salah
Mo Salah was the player we had in fifth place last week and he did perform. He scored a goal, kept a clean sheet and returned eight points.
4. Son
In fourth place, we had Son and he didn’t do really well. He failed to score and only gave three points.
3. Phil Foden
In third, we had Phil Foden who did not also score or assist – he returned just two points.
2. Gabby Jesus
Jesus did not also score or assist and so he returned only two points.
1. Harry Kane
In first place, we had Harry Kane and he did perform well and he was the pick of the bunch – Kane scored, picked up all three bonus points and returned nine points.

- Kane – 12.3% (123 votes)
- Mitrovic – 6.3% (63 votes)
- Trippier – 5.7% (57 votes)

These are this week’s top five captain picks, now we want to hear what the experts have to say and whom they’d be captaining this gameweek.
GW12 captain picks: Five of the best gameweek 12 captains
1. Salah
In terms of GW12 captains, the best player that you could give the captains armband to this gameweek, is Mo Salah. He has been in really good form in recent weeks and he also has a decent fixture in GW12, Liverpool face West Ham.
Liverpool look to have made a tweak to their set-up in recent weeks and since they made that tweak, and brought Salah closer to goal, he has scored four goals in his last two games.
If you’ve been playing FPL for some time now, you know how dangerous this man is, Salah is player that can score against any team. His form is good, his fixtures are good and his underlying numbers have improved.
Salah is being backed by experts and FPL managers this week, so if you do have him in your team then he’s one that you should captain.

2. Trossard
Trossard of Brighton is another player that could rival Mo Salah this week. One of the reasons for that, is his game against Nott’m Forest.
We all know that Nott’m Forest have one of the worst defenses in the league and that’s something FPL managers are looking to capitalize on in GW12.
Brighton are a really good side who play nice attacking football. Trossard is also a player who plays high-up the pitch – he almost plays as a second striker.
That’s exactly what you want when looking for a captain. You want a player who is close to the goal, who takes shots and who is heavily involved in attacks. That’s exactly what you get with Leandro Trossard.
If you don’t have Salah, then Trossard is a really nice alternative.

3. Harry Kane
Well for those of us who don’t have Salah as our second premium option, Kane is the best player to captain this week if you do have him.
I have Kane in my team and he’s the one I’d be giving the captain’s armband to. Kane plays against Manchester United this gameweek and some might say they it’s a tough game, however I do think that this is a game that suits Harry Kane.
Kane is one of the most lethal finishers in the world and stats this season show that Man United are giving away big chances in games.
Kane on the other hand, doesn’t need clear cut chances to score a goal. If you give him half a chance, he’d punish you.
Another great thing about Kane, is his consistency – the English forward has only blanked once all season, he has scored or assisted in his last ten games.
I’d be backing him this gameweek and hopefully he keeps up his impressive goal-scoring form.

4. Mitrovic
Mitrovic would be a nice differential captain this gameweek. Fulham play Aston Villa in GW12 and that is a really good game for Mitrovic and Fulham on paper.
Mitrovic we know just got back from injury and he still did perform really well in his last game in GW11. He had a couple of chances and he got himself on the score sheet.
He’d be a really nice differential captain this gameweek. His underlying numbers are great, his form is nice and his fixture is also good.

5. Trippier
Trippier is yet another player who has been really consistent this season. He either keeps a clean sheet, scores a goal or assists and that to be honest is every FPL manager’s dream.
Newcastle are up against Everton this gameweek, this is an Everton side that just doesn’t score too many goals. And you’d be expecting Newcastle to keep a clean sheet.
In fact, when you have a look at this week’s clean sheet odds, Newcastle are the third most likely side to keep a clean sheet this gameweek – they have been given 35.71% chance.
And if you also check out defenders most likely to either score or assist this gameweek, Trippier is currently ranked 7th – the Newcastle man has a 41.45% chance of getting a goal or an assist this gameweek.
The fact that he’s on set-pieces as well, even makes him a more appealing pick. If you want to go for a defender this gameweek, then Trippier is your man.
