Another gameweek, another decision to make, the search for a suitable gameweek 37 captain is on. And we’d be looking to make the search easier for.
That’s why in this article, we’d be taking a look at some of the best gameeweek 37 captains, we’d be looking at both single gameweek players and double gameweek players and then we’d decide which would be the best GW37 captain pick.
GW37 captain picks
GW37 captain pick: Wilfred Zaha
Zaha is a really good GW37 captain pick and a good player to have in your squad in double gameweek 37. Zaha has been in superb form of late scoring seven goals in his last ten games, as well as producing two double-digit hauls in that period.
Crystal Palace face Aston Villa and Everton in gameweek 37 and on paper these are two games that you’d be expecting Palace to do well in.
He plays against an Everton side that concedes loads of shots. In fact, Pickford has had to make 103 saves this season which is the fifth highest amongst goalies. That’s a really encouraging sign as Zaha himself has been taking so many shots in the box in recent weeks.
Zaha has also been ruthless in front of goal this season. The Crystal Palace winger has scored 12 goals from an xG of just nine which means he doesn’t need so many chances to score a goal.
Zaha’s good form and good fixtures make him a really good GW37 captain. If at all you don’t captain him this week, he’s one worth adding to your team in gameweek 37.
GW37 captain pick: Jamie Vardy
Leicester haven’t been great this season, they’ve been really inconsistent. However, a Jamie Vardy captaincy in double gameweek 37 is not a bad move to make if you can get him into your team.
The game against Watford is one we’re looking to target this gameweek. Watford have already been relegated, they’ve conceded a ridiculous amount of goals already this season, and to top it off they have nothing to play for again this season.
The potential for a Vardy haul against Watford is really high and if you can get him into your team in GW37 then you could captain him.
The game against Chelsea is one where he could get maybe a goal or an assist. He’s a really good differential as well so captaining him this gameweek could bring forth those green arrows.
GW37 captain pick: Richarlison
Richarlison would be another really good and popular pick in gameweek 37 and that’s because of his two decent fixtures. He has also been backed by a lot of people in the FPL community as a good GW37 captain. His underlying stats and good form makes a decent enough captain pick.
Yes, he’s in good form and his underlying stats are great and that’s good. But if you asked me would I be captaining him in GW37, the answer would be no.
This is because Everton don’t look like a team that score so many goals, Richarlison also isn’t so much of an explosive asset with the Everton striker having just two double-digit hauls so far this season, I just can’t see myself captaining him.
Let’s not forget that there are much better options out there as well.
What single gameweek player should you captain in GW37
As for single gameweek players, Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane, Kevin De Brunye and Mo Salah are all really good GW37 captain picks.
GW37 captain pick: Son/Kane
Son or Kane are really good gameweek 37 captain picks and the potential for them to outscore doublers this week is really high.
Spurs face a Burnley side that ranks 18th for expected goals conceded, a Burnley side that could also be without two of their key players in Ben Mee/ Tarkowski.
With two of the best attackers coming up against one of the weakest defense, you’d be expecting them to return this gameweek.
We’ve seen that Son and Kane could score against any team and you won’t put it past them to put a couple past Burnley in gameweek 37.
Out of the two, Son is the safer pick – Son is absolutely lethal in front of goal, he has scored 20 goals from an xG of 12.28, he also has the most non-penalty goals in the league this season.
As for Kane, he leads the chart for expected goal involvement since Antonio Conte took charge of Spurs. So the potential for Harry Kane to score or assist is higher than that of Son.
If we had to pick one this week, it’d be Son.
GW37 captain pick: Kevin De Brunye
Five goal involvement in gameweek 36, four goals in a single match against one the league’s best defenses, Kevin De Brunye is a man in red hot form.
If you did listen to us last gameweek and captained him or even triple captained him, I hope you’re enjoying those green arrows. The question now is, can he do it again? can he haul again in gameweek 37? the answer is, yes.
De Brunye can score and perform the way he did, against Wolves, against any team and if you have him in your team then once again go for it, captain him.
You won’t put it past him to get a goal or an assist against West Ham this gameweek, and for him to outscore most doublers as well. He’s one you should look to captain if he’s in your team.
GW37 captain pick: Mo Salah
It’s hard to look past this man when picking captains in any gameweek. He’s been reliable for most part of this season and would also be a good gameweek 37 captain pick.
Form wise, Mo Salah has not been the most in-form player since the turn of the year, with the striker scoring only six goals in the Premier League this calendar year.
However, when you look at the team he plays this gameweek, you might be tempted to just captain him. Salah plays against Southampton in gameweek 37, a side that has not been great defensively. In fact, in this calendar year, no side has conceded more big chances than Southampton.
You’d expect Salah or any Liverpool asset, to find joy in this game.
Who should you captain in gameweek 37
Heung-Min Son would be our gameweek 37 captain pick. His form, Burnley’s weakened defense, Spurs home advantage and his lethality in front of goal, makes him the best and safest pick for this gameweek.
If you want to go for a double gameweek player, then Zaha or Jamie Vardy would be decent picks. Zaha’s form, his good fixtures and his clinical nature in front of goal, makes him a really good captain pick in GW37.
