We are all getting prepared and ready for the second gameweek of the season, many of us FPL managers are looking for the right FPL asset to bring into our team.
Some FPL managers are looking for differential picks that’d give them an edge over their mini-league rivals, others are bringing in popular picks(Haaland) so that they won’t be left behind in their mini-leagues.
Whatever your plan may be we’ve got you covered. In this article we’d be taking a look at some of the best GW2 transfer targets, differential picks and we’d also be revealing our gameweek 2 team.
Gameweek 2 transfer targets: which FPL assets should you buy in GW2
Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland is the one FPL asset FPL managers are looking to get ahead of gameweek 2. The Man City man put up an incredible display against West Ham on his debut, with the forward scoring a brace.
FPL managers who didn’t have Haaland(myself included) but went for Kane, are now making the direct swap, moving Harry Kane out for Erling Haaland.
If there’s one player you should bring in this gameweek, it’s Erling Haaland. Man City face newly promoted Bournemouth at the Etihad in what would be Haaland’s first home debut game and we all expect the Norwegian to put up a show.
Haaland against West Ham, showed us how good he is. The Man City forward got himself 2 goals from an xG of 2, he also took 5 shots and had 10 touches in the penalty area.
The early signs are good and we’d expect even more from him this weekend.
Kyle Walker
Walker is another player that you could possibly get into your team, if you’re looking for a defensive cover this gameweek. He’s a cheap way to get into Man City’s defense.
He’s just 5million and looks like he’d be starting a lot of games this season, Man City also look really solid at the back and if you want to get those clean sheet points then Walker is the guy for you.
Walker isn’t one who creates that many chances in games, but against West Ham, he did manage 22 touches in the final third, he didn’t create any chances and he had an xGi of 0.04.
His underlying stats suggest that he won’t be getting so many attacking returns.
Honourable mentions: Jarrod Bowen is another player that could be on your radar ahead of gameweek 2. He plays Nott’m Forest and the potential is there for him to haul.
Nott’m Forest didn’t look great when they face Newcastle in gameweek 1 and you’d expect West Ham and Bowen to have some joy when they face them in gameweek 2.
What FPL assets should you sell ahead of gameweek 2
Well, if you’d be buying Erling Haaland, then you’d be selling Harry Kane. Kane just didn’t live up to the expectations of some of us FPL managers and we all had it in mind that if he did not perform against Southampton, then we’d be making the switch to Haaland.
However, if you do have Haaland and your team is looking good, then it’d be better to just keep your free transfer and roll it over to gameweek 3.
For those who have Aston Villa defenders, it’d be a good time to sell them as well. So, if you have Cash, Digne or Mings, then taking them out for Walker wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Gameweek 2 transfer dilemmas: Should you buy/hold Ivan Perisic
Well, if you have Ivan Perisic in your team, then it’d be good to hold him. The Spurs wing-back looked really good when he came in last weekend against Southampton.
In just 24mins, Perisic had 3 touches in the penalty area, he also had two key passes and one other thing we observed was how high up the pitch he was.
If you do not have him, it’d be better to hold until gameweek 3 as he has a much easier fixture.
When is the right time to buy Darwin Nunez
When should you buy Darwin Nunez? well, if you’d get a minus 4 to get him into your team, then it’d be better to wait before doing that.
We’d like to wait and see how he does when he starts a couple of games. The benefit of waiting before making this decision is, it would give you time to assess other options like Gabby Jesus, it would also give you time to decide whether you’d be changing to a three forward formation.
If you’d be changing to a three forward formation, then it’d be better to do that when you’re on a wildcard. For now however, it’d be better to wait and see.
GW2 transfer targets: Gameweek 2 differential picks
Jack Harrison
Jack Harrison is a really good differential, he’s selected by just 1.1% of FPL managers, he has really good set of fixtures and he’s creating a decent amount of chances.
In fact, in Leeds’ opening game Harrison was top for successful crosses (4), key passes (7), big chances created (2) and xA (1.00). He is one spicy differential and would be a great addition to any team.
Here’s what at @CORF_FPL had to say concerning some differential picks in gameweek 2. He takes his time to highlight some nice to differentials to consider ahead of gameweek 2.
Aaronson
Really impressed with the LEE winger vs WOL,he was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Could go up against Djenepo in GW2, who looked woeful vs TOT in GW1. I really think he’s a great, cheap differential punt going forward
Jack Grealish
City utilised the wide men vs WHU, should they operate the same way vs BOU I think Grealish could be a great 3rd MCI option. I see him thriving with Haaland playing as CF this season, really keen to see how he does vs BOU.
Nathan Ake
Whilst Laporte remains sidelined it seems Ake is Pep’s man to partner up with Dias in the City backline. At just £5.0m he could be a savvy option this GW as he goes against is former club. A set piece threat, good on BPS & cheap.
