If you didn’t know, the FPL game was launched on the 5th, of July 2022. This means FPL managers and football fans, now have everything they need to start creating FPL drafts in preparation for the new season.
Since we now know the prices, the fixtures and the new positions of FPL assets, we FPL managers can now start setting up our teams for the new season. And that’s what we’d be helping you do in this article.
In this article, we’d be looking at what teams we should target and what teams we should avoid based on their fixture difficulty ratings. We’d then create our first FPL draft of the 2022/23 season with assets who have easy fixtures.
What teams have a fixture difficulty rating(FDR) of two in five of their first seven games
Before we look at the teams with easy fixtures, we first want to explain what fixture difficulty rating (FDR) is; and here’s what the official Fantasy Premier League have to say about fixture difficulty rating(FDR)
The FDR is based on a complex algorithm developed by FPL experts. A set of formulas process key Opta data variables, along with each team’s home and away form for the past six matches, to generate a rank for the perceived difficulty of each Gameweek opponent. The FDR is designed to help FPL managers plan their transfer and team selection strategy. It is reviewed on a weekly basis and updated as the season progresses.
So, with that in mind, let’s now take a look at some of the teams that have a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of two in their first seven games. And the answer is simple – no team has a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of two throughout their first seven games in the 2022/23 premier league season.
Well, that doesn’t mean that no team has good set of fixtures. In fact, there are a couple of teams who have really good fixture difficulty ratings (FDR) in their first seven games. Those are the teams we’d be looking to target in our first FPL draft for the 2022/23 season.
Here are five teams who have at least five fixtures with a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of two in their first seven games.
- Leeds – six of Leeds United’s first seven games have a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of two
- Arsenal – five of Arsenal’s first seven games have a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of two, while one has fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of four and another with three.
- Liverpool – five of Liverpool’s seven fixtures have a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of two with their remaining two having a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of four and three.
- Brentford – five of Brentford’ seven fixtures have a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of two with their remaining two having a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of four and three.
We could also add Chelsea and Manchester City to this list because they do not have any game with a fixture difficulty rating (FDR) of four in their first seven games. Rather, they have four fixtures with an FDR of two and three fixtures with an FDR of three.

So ultimately, when we are creating our first draft for the 2022/23 season, we want to try our best to target players from these teams.
What teams have difficult games in their first seven matches in the 2022/23 Premier League season
We have four teams whose first seven games are a bit of a mixed bag and we want to avoid FPL assets from these four teams.
- Southampton – three of Southampton’s seven fixtures have an FDR of four, while one has an FDR of three and the remaining three have an FDR of two.
- Fulham – three of Fulham’s seven fixtures have an FDR of four, another has an FDR of five, and the remaining three have an FDR of two.
- Crystal Palace – Only two of Crystal Palace’s first seven fixtures have an FDR of two while the rest have an FDR of three and five.
- Nott’m Forest – Nott’m Forest is a bit of a tricky one. They have just one fixture with an FDR of five in their first seven games, while the others have an FDR of three and two.
With these stats in mind, we want to try and avoid FPL assets from these teams in the first five-seven gameweeks. We want to try our best and prioritize assets with easy fixtures when creating our first FPL draft for the season.

We really don’t have enough metrics to use to judge players at the start of a new season. However, we have fixtures – we want to try our best to use these metrics when selecting players for our FPL draft.
