FPL GW4 wildcard team: the best gameweek 4 wildcard FPL teams

We’ve now completed four gameweeks in the FPL season, and honestly, it’s been quite an interesting ride. We’ve witnessed both surprising and impressive performances, with some players meeting expectations while others falling a bit short.

If you happen to be one of the FPL managers who have chosen a few players that aren’t performing as anticipated, using your wildcard this gameweek could be a smart strategy.

Opting for a wildcard now would enable you to acquire players who are currently in excellent form and those set to face favorable fixtures in the upcoming matches. This gameweek, selecting Chelsea players would be a wise decision, and utilizing your wildcard could help you bring their assets into your team.

The best teams to target for your GW4 FPL wildcard team

Here are some of the teams with great fixtures from now up until GW9. You can see this in the fixture ticker done by fpltips__:

Teams to target when wildcarding in GW4:

  1. Chelsea
  2. Newcastle
  3. Spurs
  4. Liverpool
  5. Manchester City

Some important things to keep in mind as you play your FPL wildcard in gameweek 4

As you create your GW4 wildcard team, here are a couple of things you should keep in mind:

  • First, you want to try as much as possible to select players that are guaranteed a place in the first eleven of their teams.
  • You want to keep the long-term in mind when selecting players for your GW4 team.
  • You want to try to have a solid bench, in case of rotations and injuries.
  • You want to target players that play for teams with great fixtures – teams with good fixture difficulty ratings.
  • You want to target in form players.

Should You Wildcard In FPL GW4

Well, the answer to this question is, it depends on you and your strategy. If you have a team that comprises of injured players, low-performing players, or players whose upcoming fixtures aren’t great, then wildcarding in GW4 is a good option.

However, FPL managers tend to wildcard before big or during double gameweeks or big blank gameweeks. So, like we said earlier, it depends on your strategy as a manager.

GW8 and GW5 are also great times to use the wildcard chip. Wildcarding in GW5 is good because you get to use the chip after the International break which is a great strategy because players can pick up injuries during the break.

GW8 is also ideal, because a couple teams fixtures begin to get tough – Chelsea are a good example of side whose fixtures take a swing in GW8. Wildcarding then would allow you target teams whose fixture have a positive swing.

GW4 Wildcard Teams

GW4 Wildcard Team

This is our GW4 wildcard team. In this team, we’ve chosen players who are in teams with great fixtures for this gameweek and future gameweeks. We’ve also included some of the best-performing players currently.

Rashford is not part of this team, and we haven’t selected any City midfielders. We went with Bruno over Rashford due to Bruno’s recent performance against Nott’m Forest. Bruno played a significant role in that match, and his underlying statistics were impressive.

During the game, Bruno was active throughout, scoring a penalty goal, providing an assist, taking 6 shots, and creating 3 chances, including 2 big big chances. Having both Rashford and Bruno in your wildcard team could be a good idea. However, we aim to have a mix of players from different teams.

Trippier is also in our lineup, mainly for the long term. Newcastle’s fixtures become favorable in GW5, which is why we opted for Trippier.

Isak is on our watchlist and could be a valuable addition, especially since Newcastle is facing Brighton in the next match. This game might have a lot of goals, providing Isak a good chance to earn points.

Starting with two Chelsea defenders might not be ideal this week, as Nott’m Forest can score goals. This means Chelsea might not keep a clean sheet. Using Udogie or Trippier could be a better choice.

Furthermore, we don’t have any Brighton players in our team. This is because their upcoming fixtures are tough, which could impact their point returns in FPL.

Estupinan might struggle to keep many clean sheets as he faces Newcastle, Man United, Man City, and Liverpool in the next six games. This is why we’ve opted for a defense comprising players from Man City, Spurs, Newcastle, and Chelsea.

Here’s what this wildcard team would like in the next couple of gameweeks:

GW5 Wildcard Teams

In GW5, you would have a team like this. Your players and assets still have great fixtures and you might not even need to make a transfer if there are no injury concerns. Even if there are, you have a solid bench that could see you through gameweek 5.

Here’s what the team would look like in gw6:

GW6 Wildcard Team

In GW6, we’d be using our transfer to get Isak in and you could also look to get Estupinan or Mitoma in for this gameweek as Brighton take on Bournemouth. These are the only two transfers we’d be recommending for this week.
