FPL GW28 captain picks

GW28 is here and it’s a blank gameweek! which means we have fewer options to pick our captains from. We know how important it is to choose the right captain every gameweek, and this week is no exception.

Despite the blank gameweek, we still have so many great FPL assets to choose from, – Kane, Saka, Watkins, Marinelli, and Trippier are all fantastic options to consider for captaincy in gameweek 28.

With these many options, the question is, who should you captain in GW28? well, that’s the question we’d be looking to answer in this article.

In this article, we’re going to take a closer look at the players mentioned and try to determine which one to captain in GW28. Let’s get started and find the perfect captain pick for our FPL teams!

FPL GW28 captain poll: Who to captain GW28?

5. In fifth place, we have Odegaard, who has picked up 10 votes so far.

According to recent data(captain picks poll), Harry Kane is the most popular pick among FPL managers for GW28 captaincy. Kane has been in great form for Tottenham in recent weeks, scoring three goals and providing one assist in his last five league appearances.

Five of the best gameweek 28 captain

Now that we’ve heard from FPL managers, we think it is now time for us to share our thoughts on who we think you should be looking to captain this gameweek.

We have a list of five players, and we think that these five players would perform well in GW28 and that they’d be worth the captain’s armband as well.

5. FPL GW28 Captain: Ollie Watkins

While Ollie Watkins is a great player to have in your FPL team for GW28 and beyond, he may not be the best choice for the captaincy in GW28. That’s because there are other players who may have a higher potential to pick up more points as captain picks.

Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Kieran Trippier all have the potential to outscore Watkins this gameweek. That being said, Watkins is certainly a viable option for the captaincy this week, especially if you’re looking for a differential pick.

If you’re looking for a different captain choice in the absence of the popular pick, Erling Haaland, then GW28 might be the ideal time to do so. In that case, Ollie Watkins would be an excellent option to consider.

His recent form and favorable matchup make him a solid choice, and his ability to earn points through both goals and assists makes him a well-rounded FPL asset.

FPL GW28 Captain: Ollie Watkins

While Watkins may not be the most popular choice, his potential for points and favorable fixtures in the coming gameweeks make him a player worth considering for your FPL team this gameweek and in future gameweeks.

4. FPL GW28 Captain: Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka is certainly a viable option for the captaincy in GW28, however, he is currently the least ranked Arsenal player on our list.

This is due to the recent performances of his Arsenal teammates, particularly Gabriel Martinelli, who has been in impressive form in recent weeks.

That being said, Saka is still a great option for captaincy this week. He has been an integral part of Arsenal’s attack this season, with ten goals and ten assists to his name so far.

FPL GW28 Captain: Bukayo Saka

Additionally, Arsenal have a decent matchup at home against Crystal Palace who have not been at their best in recent weeks, keeping just one clean sheet in their last ten league matches.

This is a really good time for Saka to haul, Arsenal plays at home and we know that Bukayo Saka loves a home fixture – he has only blanked once in his last four home fixtures, picking up a total of 29 points in that period.

Saka’s versatility also makes him a valuable asset in FPL, as he has the potential to earn points through both goals and assists.

While Saka may not have performed as well as some of his Arsenal teammates in recent weeks, he still has the potential for a big points haul in GW28.

3. FPL GW28 Captain: Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier is another great GW28 captain pick in Fantasy Premier League (FPL). The Newcastle full-back has been in fine form all season and has the potential to provide a good return for FPL managers who captain him this gameweek.

Trippier is a defender that would give you more than clean-sheet points. He has proved that he can mix things up this season with his six assists.

FPL GW28 Captain: Kieran Trippier
Despite Newcastle’s lack of clean sheets in recent gameweeks, they have been ranked fourth in this gameweek’s clean sheet odds predictions – the Magpies have a 34% chance of keeping a clean sheet against Nott’m Forest.

The fact that Trippier is a defender, could work in your favor this gameweek if you captain him. We know that many FPL managers may not be brave enough to captain a defender over a midfielder or forward.

This can provide a significant boost to your overall rank if you go for him in gameweek 28. In conclusion, his defensive solidity, attacking threat, ownership, and consistency makes him a great option for we FPL managers.

While captaining a defender may seem like a risky move, the potential for clean sheets, attacking returns, and a differential boost make Trippier an excellent choice for the captain’s armband.

2. FPL GW28 Captain: Gabriel Martinelli

Gabriel Martinelli is an excellent candidate for the second-best captain pick for Gameweek 28 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL). The Arsenal forward has been in fine form recently and has the potential to provide a good return for FPL managers who captain him this gameweek.

One of the primary benefits of captaining a forward like Martinelli is the potential for attacking returns. Martinelli has scored five goals in his last five Premier League appearances, including a goal in Arsenal’s last league game against Fulham.

FPL GW28 Captain: Gabriel Martinelli

He has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers in recent weeks and has shown a clinical edge in front of goal. In addition, Arsenal faces a struggling Crystal Palace side, a side that has kept one clean sheet in their last ten Premier League games – this is something Martinelli and Arsenal can exploit.

Martinelli’s versatility is also a significant asset for us FPL managers. He can play in multiple positions across the front line, which means that he is not reliant on one position to earn points.

It also means that he is likely to play as a striker sometime during the full 90 minutes, which would definitely increase his chances of getting a goal or some form of attacking return.

In conclusion, Gabriel Martinelli is an excellent choice for the second-best captain pick for Gameweek 28.

His recent form, nice fixture and versatility make him a great GW28 captain. The potential for high a high return this gameweek, makes him an attractive option for FPL managers

1. FPL GW28 Captain: Harry Kane

In this gameweek, we agree with the 146 FPL managers that have voted Harry Kane as their ideal GW28 captain. His form, fixture and recent performance make it hard to ignore the Spurs man.

In his last match, Kane got himself a brace and that performance and win against Nott’m Forest has no doubt got him on our radar once again.

As an FPL manager what you want from your captain is, guaranteed minutes, good fixture, nice form, penalty taker and explosiveness and without a doubt, Kane ticks all those boxes.

We know that captaining a player like Kane, means that you’re captaining a player that can return double-digits, or player that would get you a goal at least.

FPL GW28 Captain: Harry Kane

He has been a consistent performer all season. This season he has scored 20 goals and has assisted 6. He is second to Erling Haaland and in Haaland’s absence, we’d be going with Harry Kane.
