With blank gameweeks and double gameweeks coming up, we need to start planning and getting our FPL teams together. One way that we FPL managers can do this, is by making use of the wildcard chip.
In this article, we’d be creating two GW26 wildcard teams, we’d also be using different strategies as we create our teams.
In our first GW26 wildcard team, we’d be going big at the back, and in the third team, we’d be going all in on forwards.

Some important things to keep in mind as you play your FPL wildcard in gameweek 26
As you create your GW26 wildcard team, here are a couple of things you should keep in mind:
- First, you want to try as much as possible to select players that are guaranteed a place in the first eleven of their teams.
- You want to keep the long-term in mind when selecting players for your GW26 team.
- You want to try to have a solid bench, in case of rotations, injuries, and upcoming double gameweks.
- You want to keep it in mind that GW28 is going to be one of the biggest blank gameweeks for teams still in the FA Cup and the opponents they’d face.
- You also want to have it in mind that Brighton, Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Southampton have a double gameweek in GW27.

1. GW26 wildcard team: Going big at the back

Here’s our first GW26 wildcard team and to be honest, it is already one of our favorite drafts. It is a really solid balanced team that has great FPL assets from the defense down to the attack.
In this wildcard draft, you can see that we’re trying to set ourselves up for future double gameweeks which is pretty good. Not only are we looking to have a solid team in double gameweek 27, we’re also looking to be well set up for DGW29 as well.
You can check out thoughts on your various FPL chips and the best time to use them this season in our: FPL chip strategy: the best time to use your FPL chips GW23-38.
In this team, we’re trying to also select defenders that have great fixtures and are on form.
That’s the whole point of this strategy, this strategy allows you to spread out your budget, which enables you to target mid-priced FPL assets in every position.
The team is so good, that you can set up with a lot of formations and you’d still be fine. It also has a pretty solid bench filled with players that are guaranteed starters as well. And as a bonus, you’ve got 1.3 million in the bank.

2. GW26 wildcard team: going in on forwards

This is our final GW26 wildcard team, and to be honest, it is quite similar to the first one that we created. The only difference is that we’ve taken out Recce James and Evan Ferguson and brought in Watkins and Emerson.
It is a pretty solid team, that now has three of the most sort after forwards in the game at the moment. We think that the players we’ve selected in both of our teams are great for this gameweek and future gameweeks as well.
However, there are a couple of players that aren’t in either of these teams and we recommend you keep an eye on them. The first player is James Maddison of Leicester City, Almiron of Newcastle, Wilson of Newcastle, and Felix of Chelsea.
These players have great fixtures in double gameweek 29 and we feel they could come good soon. So, it’d be nice to keep an eye on them.
