FPL GW21 wildcard team: some of the best gameweek 21 FPL teams

GW21 wildcard team

With blank gameweeks coming up, it is important for us to start planning ahead and getting our FPL team together. One way that we FPL manager can do this, is by making use of the wildcard chip.

In this article, we’d be creating three GW21 wildcard teams, we’d also be using different strategies as we create our teams.

In our first GW21 wildcard team, we’d be going big at the back, in the second team, we’d be investing in midfielders and lastly, in the third team, we’d be going all in on forwards.

Some important things to keep in mind as you play your FPL wildcard in gameweek 21

As you create your GW21 wildcard team, here are couple of things you should keep in mind:

  • First, you want to try as much as possible to select players that are guaranteed a place in the first eleven of their teams.
  • You want to keep the long term in mind when selecting players for your GW21 team.
  • You want to try to have a solid bench, in case of rotations and injuries.
  • You want to keep it in mind that GW25 could be a possible blank gameweeks for Brighton, Man United, Newcastle and Brentford
  • You also want to have it mind that Man United could have a double gameweek in GW22 and Arsenal and Man City double up in GW23.

The best teams to target for your GW21 FPL wildcard team

To help you know the teams that have double gameweeks coming up and the teams with good fixtures, here is a really nice fixture ticker done by fpltips__:

Here are some of the teams with good fixtures in FPL from GW22-GW27:

  1. Arsenal
  2. Manchester City
  3. Brighton
  4. Leeds
  5. Brentford

It’d be a really good idea to target FPL assets from the teams listed above, as these teams have great fixtures and their players would be great long term FPL picks.

You can find out more about what players to target from these teams in our: FPL GW21 best transfers: who should you buy in gameweek 21.

1. GW21 wildcard team: Going big at the back

gw21 wildcard team

This is our first GW21 team, and in this one, we’ve decided to go big at the back. You can see that we’ve clearly targeted defenders from top sides that have been keeping clean sheets this season.

In goal, we have Kepa Arizabalaga, in our defense we have three players: Trippier, White, and Stones. In midfield, we have: Mahrez, Odegaard, Saka and Rashford and while up top, we got Kane, Toney and Haaland.

While on the bench, we have: Danny Ward, Shaw, Mitoma and Neco Williams.

We have Trippier, Shaw, White, Stones, and Neco Williams as our defenders. We’ve also not doubled up on any defense in this wildcard team, and that’s because the teams we’d love to double up on, have a high chance of blanking in GW25.

Say we double up on Newcastle defenders, when GW25 comes around and they blank, we’d be in a difficult position. In other for us to avoid that, we’ve decided to select players from different teams.

Right now we have five players that could blank in GW25, which isn’t bad because we can use our bench and our free transfer when blank gameweek 25 comes around and that would keep us in a good position.

2. GW21 wildcard team: Investing in midfielders

GW21 wildcard team: Investing in midfielders

Here’s what the team looks like:

Goalkeeper and defenders

Ramsdale – Trippier – Mee- Stones

Midfielders

Ward-Prowse – March – Odegaard – De Brunye – Rashford

Forwards

Haaland – Toney

Bench

Ward – Shaw – Mitrovic – White

This is our second GW21 team and in this one, we’re targeting midfielders. We’ve gone in to get some of the best and in-form midfielders in the game.

We have selected Ward-Prowse and Sally March in this GW21 team, because they have been benefiting from their new roles in their various clubs. They also have pretty nice fixtures coming up as well, which makes them even more appealing.

They are also in that really nice price range that would allow you to easily make a switch if they stop performing and are no longer on form.

This GW21 team, is also pretty balanced from the defense to the attack as well as the bench – you can play any formation you want with this team, because of how strong the bench is.

In this gameweek 21 team we’ve also tried to not select a lot of players that could blank in GW25 – we have selected five players from teams that could blank in GW25.

It’s pretty good team and it’s one we’d be expecting to do well this week and in the long-term.

3. GW21 wildcard team: Going all in on forwards

GW21 wildcard team: Going all in on forwards

Here’s what the team looks like:

Goalkeeper and defenders

Ederson- Trippier – Mee- Akanji

Midfielders

Ward-Prowse – Saka – Odegaard – Rashford

Forwards

Haaland – ToneyKane

Bench

Ward – Shaw – Mitoma- White

We apologize for the lack of images in this article and our other articles this gameweek, it is something we’re looking and working hard to resolve. This issue would be resolved before GW22. We hope everyone enjoys this gameweek.

This is the final GW21 wildcard team and in this one we’ve decided to go all in on forwards. We’ve selected three of the most in-form forwards in FPL this season and they are: Kane, Haaland and Toney.

We’ve also made a couple of adjustments in defense so that we can make this move. We’ve had to bring in Akanji, take our De Brunye, we’ve also got Ederson and we reduced March to Mitoma.

We know that another question a lot of FPL managers have been asking is, Mitoma or March who do they go for? The answer for us would be, whomever you can afford.

Right now, March is the one getting FPL points and so a lot of people are drawn to him. However, when you look at their underlying numbers, you’d find out that Mitoma has better stats.

He takes more shots and gets the most chances in games – he’s a good long-term pick and he’s also cheaper. March is also a decent pick as well. He’s on form and also more advanced as De Zerbi is now using him as a right-winger.

It depends on you and what you’re looking for as an FPL manager. If you want a cheap long-term pick, then Mitoma is your man.

If you want an in-form nailed on player, then March is the better option.

We know that sometimes it’s hard to decide on which players to buy and so in order to help, we’ve decided to put together a predictions and odds article, in that article we share various odds for this week – clean sheet odds, goal scoring odds and points predictions.
