GW22 is here and it is yet another FPL gameweek. Unlike every other gameweek, DGW22 is a gameweek where a lot of FPL managers are making use of their wildcard chips.
In this article, we’d be creating three GW22 wildcard teams and we’d be using different strategies as we create our various DGW22 FPL wildcard teams.
In our first GW22 FPL wildcard team, we’d be going big at the back, in the second wildcard team, we’d be investing in midfielders and lastly, in the third FPL wildcard team, we’d be going all in on forwards.
We hope you enjoy our wildcard draft article.
Some important things to keep in mind as you play your FPL wildcard in gameweek 22
As you create your GW22 wildcard team, here are couple of things you should keep in mind:
- First, you want to try as much as possible to select players that are guaranteed a place in the first eleven of their teams.
- You want to keep the long term in mind when selecting players for your GW22 team.
- You want to try to have a solid bench, in case of rotations injuries and blank gameweeks.
- You want to keep it in mind that GW25 could be a possible blank gameweek for Brighton, Man United, Newcastle and Brentford
- You also want to have it mind that Arsenal and Man City double up in GW23.

FPL tips: preparing for FPL 22/23 blank and double gameweeks GW22-28, article.
1. GW22 wildcard team: Going big at the back

This is our first FPL GW22 wildcard team, and in this one we’ve decided to go big at the back. In this wildcard team, you can see that we’ve targeted defenders from the top sides that have been keeping clean sheets on a consistent basis.
We’ve gone for defenders that are also pretty nailed on as well, which is always a good thing. This team is not just optimized for DGW22, but it is also a team that has the long term in mind.
You can see that we have the long term mind, from the players that we’ve decided to select. We’ve got a decent amount of Arsenal and Man City assets, as they double in GW23.
We’ve also not gone all in on teams that blank in GW25 – we currently have six players that play for teams that blank in GW25, which is a good thing because of how solid our bench is.
This means that when GW25 comes, you would have four players that can replace four players in your first team, which means without using your free transfer, you’d have a team of nine players which is decent for a blank gameweek.
And then if you plan properly, you could save an extra transfer and then make two transfers before GW25 and then you’d be able to have a team of 11 players.
It’s a pretty solid wildcard draft and it’s great if you’re wildcarding with the long-term in mind. It’s also not an expensive team to build, as it cost just 96.4 million.

2. GW22 wildcard team: Investing in midfielders

This is our second wildcard team for double gameweek 22. In this one, we’re going all in on midfielders and in other for us to do this, we’ve decided to make a few changes to the team we had earlier.
We’ve taken out De Gea for Raya, Mitoma for Fernandes, Toney for Gnonto and Mudryk for Mahrez. It is still a pretty decent team as you can see, we still have a decent amount of double gameweek players.
We also still have the long term in mind with this team, we only have five players that blank in GW25 right now in the team and that’s not going to be a problem because we have a pretty solid bench that comprises of first team players.
Not only do we have double gameweek players for GW22, but we also have five players that double in GW23 as well. It’s a pretty solid wildcard team and it’s good for anyone that has the long-term in mind.
3. GW22 wildcard team: Going all in on forwards

This is the final GW22 wildcard team that we’ve got and in this team, we’re going all in on forwards – targeting premium forwards. That’s why we’ve got two of the most expensive FPL forwards in this wildcard team.
The team is quite alright but it’s not our favorite GW22 wildcard team and the reason is because there aren’t enough GW22 double gameweek players.
Other than that it’s a pretty decent wildcard team and it’s also optimized with the long-term in mind. You have decent Arsenal and Man City cover for GW23 and you also have a solid bench that would keep you in a good position when BGW25 comes along.
It’s a pretty solid wildcard team and one that you can take inspiration from.
