The Premier League would be resuming soon and in preparation for the resumption of the PL, we have decided to take a look at the fixtures.
We want to have a look at what teams have double gameweeks coming up, what teams have nice fixtures and when we should be playing our various FPL chips. This is our FPL chip strategy guide.
When is the next double gameweek FPL 2022/23
According to the newly rescheduled fixtures, there are three double gameweeks taking place between GW17-23. The first FPL double gameweek, would be in GW19, and the teams involved are Chelsea and Fulham.
In double gameweek 19, Chelsea play: Man City and Fulham, while Fulham face Leicester City and Chelsea. The next double gameweek after GW19, is in gameweek 20. Once again, there are two teams involved in this particular double gameweek.
The two teams are: Manchester City and Spurs. In DGW20, Man City face Man United and Spurs, while Spurs face Arsenal and Man City.
After double gameweek 20, the next double gameweek, is in GW23 – Man City and Arsenal are the only teams involved in this particular double gameweek.
Man City play against Aston Villa and Arsenal, while Arsenal play Brentford and Man City in double gameweek 23.
Teams | Dates of double gameweeks | Fixtures |
Chelsea | gameweek 19 | Man City and Fulham |
Fulham | gameweek 19 | Leicester City and Chelsea |
Man City | gameweek 20 & 23 | Man United and Spurs & Aston Villa and Arsenal |
Spurs | gameweek 20 | Arsenal and Man City. |
Arsenal | gameweek 23 | Brentford and Man City |
There’s also speculation that there could be even more double gameweeks for teams in gameweek 21. Some of the teams that could double in GW21 are: Brighton, Bournemouth or Crystal Palace.
Here’s why that could happen as shared by @BenCrellin on Twitter:
Brighton just lost to Charlton in the EFL Cup. Brighton’s opponents in their two postponed fixtures are already out of the EFL Cup. GW21 has two midweeks when the EFL Cup Semi-finals are played. Postponed fixtures have been moved to EFL Cup SF midweeks in previous seasons.
That’s a possibility that we thought we should share with our readers. Here’s a pretty good fixture ticker that shows the confirmed double gameweeks:
What teams have nice fixtures
Well, from the fixture ticker shown above, we can see that a couple of teams have pretty nice set of fixtures. We have the likes of:
- Man City
- Chelsea
- Southampton
- Arsenal
- Fulham
These five teams have fixtures whose difficulty ratings are quite good. Amongst these teams, we also have couple of them doubling between now in GW23.
This means that when you’re selecting your GW17 team you should try to target players from the teams listed above, alongside players from Liverpool, Man United, Spurs and Newcastle.
When should you play your various FPL chips 2022/23
When to play the triple captain chip FPL 2022/23 season
Looking at the rescheduled games, the only chip we can recommend you use is the triple captain chip. The triple captain chip, can be used in any of the double gameweeks, depending on who you want to captain.
If you want to use your triple captain on a Chelsea player, then GW19 would be the time to use the chip. If you want to use it on a Spurs player, then GW20 would also be a good time to use the chip.
However, if you take a look at the fixture ticker, you’d see that the two teams with good double gameweek fixtures, are: Man City and Arsenal, and that is in GW23.
If we had to pick our ideal time to use the triple captain chip, then it’d be in GW23 on a Man City or Arsenal asset.
When to use the bench boost and free hit chips 2022/23 season
As for the bench boost and free hit chips, there really is no ideal time to play them just yet. You don’t want to use those chips, when there are not many teams with double gameweeks.
As the season goes on, more teams would have double gameweeks and when that happens, you should be looking to play one of your free hit or bench boost. For now, we’d say that you should hold onto those chips.
